Cambridge IGCSE Curriculum

Liceo Scientifico Internazionale "Cambridge IGCSE"
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international
qualification, released by Cambridge
Assessment International Education. This is part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, a
not-for profit department of the University of Cambridge, one
of the oldest and greatest universities in the world and renowned for excellence in education.
Cambridge IGCSE is recognised by leading
universities and employers worldwide, and it is an international passport to
progression and success.
Developed over 25 years ago, it is tried, tested
and trusted by schools worldwide. It is
recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation
(Ofqual), the government regulator of examinations, to provide regulated
qualifications. This means that regulated assessments and qualifications are monitored and meet appropriate standards
– whether they are taken in the UK or anywhere else in the world.
It offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, and it is built around students' specific needs, core subjects and cross-curricular perspectives, which encourages learners to engage with a variety of subjects and make connections between them.

The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a flexible
and stimulating teaching/learning experience and helps improve performance by
developing skills in creative thinking,
enquiry and problem solving. It is the perfect springboard to advanced
study. In fact, it also helps develop
learner knowledge, understanding and skills in:
·
Subject content
· Applying
knowledge and understanding to new as well
as
unfamiliar situations
·
Intellectual enquiry
·
Flexibility and responsiveness to change
·
Working and communicating in English
·
Influencing outcomes
·
Cultural awareness.
Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the
end of the course and can include written, oral, coursework and practical
assessment, according to each Subject. This broadens opportunities for students
to demonstrate their learning,
particularly when their first language is not English. Grades are
benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades, A* to G, which have
clear guidelines to explain the standard of achievement for each grade.
Cambridge IGCSE examination sessions occur twice a year, in June and November,
while results are issued in August and January.
Cambridge IGCSE is widely recognised by higher
education institutions and employers around the world as evidence of academic
achievement.
The Subject teachers involved in the new Cambridge IGCSE Syllabuses at Liceo "G. Galilei" have got the necessary English Language
Qualifications released by English Language specialized centres (A2/C2/Levels -
CEFR - Cambridge ELA/Trinity) in accordance with D.M. 07/03/2012 and D.D.G. 12/10/2015 (Legislation in matter of
